  1. Sex without Love by Sharon Olds

This poem is very on key with all of the different analogies that the speaker uses to go back and forth from things that are nice to watch and look at to things that make you want to close your eyes tightly and look away just by what you are imagining. Yet no one else can even see what is in your head.

Beautiful as dancers- to watch a live performance of theater or dance production that is well done, is a nice thing to see and watch. So I am with her. then she says-

gliding over each other like ice-skaters- ice skaters glide on ice, by way of sharp blades slicing through the surface of the ice. So because she says over each other, it put an image in my head as two ice skaters taking turns to slice into each other willingly. Scary. She then says-
fingers hooked inside each other's bodies- I see in my mind gruesome images of two people with their fingers hooked inside one another. This work goes back and forth like that. then ends with the sad cold blunt reality. Really good writing.
